Rhubarb-Rhubarb is the internationally renowned West Midlands based Development Agency for photographic artists working with traditional and new technologies . Rhubarb-Rhubarb works to build the confidence of photographers facing the rapidly changing fine art image world and marketplaces – virtual and in real time.
For artists living and working in the West Midlands, we offer one to one portfolio reviews across the region, a Bursary Scheme supported by Arts Council England for a free day at the International Photographic Review, mentoring through schemes such as Morning After with our sister company, Creative Alliance, and opportunities for showing at and travelling to a range of international events and festivals.
Beyond the West Midlands we have a programme of development relevant to different stages of experience and knowledge – for third year students, graduates, self taught and early emerging artists working with the photographic image, we have designed Cultivate, a programme which runs twice yearly in different regions of the UK.
Mid career and established image practitioners are invited to apply for places at The International Portfolio Event – known as Europe’s premiere review of this kind, which is held annually in Birmingham, UK. Or attend seminars, workshops and one to one or group consultancy regarding future opportunity or market profiling.
Through these activities, we aim to nurture talent, inspire growth, create opportunities for future image endeavours and bring together photographers with international experts who can influence and advise on current market matters and share image world knowledge.
Rhubarb-Rhubarb also curates, organises and manages exhibitions and commissions, and is developing its approaches to selling fine art photographs, working with some of the world’s most renowned galleries, curators, publishers, collectors and agents.

An exhibition of selected photographic works representing the diversity of modern photography
By Total Image Nation Exhibition dates: 3 – 7 June 2008
Private View: 6 – 8.45pm. 2 June 2008.
Menier Gallery, Southwark St, London, SE1 1 RU
A new exhibition showing work of the photographers collective, Total Image Nation, entitled Foreword opens on June 2nd at the Menier Gallery, London.
Running from 3-7 June Foreword is a statement of intent: a description of what is to come, marking the beginning of the next chapter for Total Image Nation with the launch of their new website which reinforces their commitment to be actively involved in promoting and supporting the work of emerging and established photographers throughout the UK.
With selected work from photographers such as Victoria J. Dean, Natasha Allen, Fang Zheng, Roberto Foddai, Michelle Lord and Andre Penteado, this exhibition is a statement of the values of the photographers work and how they mean to progress. Promising to be bold, interesting and exciting Foreword includes varied images from different genres and approaches:
Victoria J. Dean’s poetic depictions of alienation and isolation in public spaces within Northern Ireland since the peace agreement, observe a landscape of increased anxiety within the public realm resulting from current issues such as terrorism, paedophilia and knife and gun culture.
Fang Zheng’s beautifully still, yet eerily quiet images, of urban renewal in Shanghai show another side to the cityscape of China and demonstrate a boundary where ruins meet modernisation.
Roberto Foddai tells a story through his neorealistic images; from one image to the next the tale twists and turns with cinematic style and unyielding observance.
Michelle Lord laboriously and intricately constructs scenes and uses traditional photographic practice to create images which have an incredibly otherworldly feel.
There will be a private view on the evening of Monday 2 June and many of the photographers will be present to discuss their work, anyone who wishes to attend should RSVP to info@total-image-nation.co.uk
Foreword is curated by Karen Harvey.
