Are you still looking for a venue?
Call for submissions / proposals (Deadline: ASAP)
A number of venues (galleries / cafes / offices / shops / etc) in and around
Brighton and Hove would like to put on photographic exhibitions as part of
the Brighton Photo Fringe 2008, but still have not been approached by
potential exhibitors. These venues have asked the Fringe to forward them
submissions / proposals from individuals or groups who would like to show,
so that they can programme exhibitions in time for the brochure deadlines
etc.
This is a chance to be put directly in touch with spaces that want to hold
exhibitions, and there are lots of opportunities to show across a wide variety
of spaces, so all styles / media should find a home.
If anyone has yet to line up an exhibition venue and would like me to put
your work forward to these interested spaces please could you email me:
1. Between 3-10 images (jpeg format, 72dpi and maximum 30cm width)
2. Details of works (i.e. title / dimensions / medium / mounting)
3. Artist’s CV with contact details (not more than 2 sides of A4)
4. Artist’s statement or exhibition proposal (not more that 1 side of A4)
Please send these submissions to:
woodrow@photofringe.org
Or contact me for postal address if not possible to email.
This is an ongoing callout as new venues will continue to be added to the list,
but please send through the requested materials as soon as possible. I will
be starting to send packs of submissions to venues in just over a week, so
please could you send me submissions by the end of Monday 21st July.
(N.B. These opportunities are for space only, with no budgets for production
costs / publicity / etc, so exhibition proposals would have to be self-funded or
have funding from elsewhere, and some venues will also take commission on
sales.)
Please feel free to circulate this callout to anyone who might be interested,
and contact me if you have any questions.
Many thanks and I look forward to receiving your submissions.
Best – Woodrow

Ricoh Caplio GX200 12 Megapixel Compact High Quality Digital Camera
The previous compact Ricoh’s have had good reviews but this looks like they have ironed out some of the basic issues with the other models. The GX200 is available from July 2008 in the UK.
Shoots RAW, and pretty fast too according to the spec.
